WHY WATER

World Vision’s water projects are comprehensive, complex, and sustainable. They engage the community, religious leaders, and local government. After rigorous assessment, engineers choose from different types of water points depending on the geography and the needs of a community. Projects also focus on improved sanitation and hygiene solutions like building latrines and organizing communities to implement good habits such as handwashing.

Dear Pastor and Friends,

When you opened the door for Team World Vision in our community did you ever think that God would bring a bunch of people together to do something hard - like training for marathons - and have such a HUGE IMPACT on the lives of the poor? I AM one of those runners and I THANK YOU on behalf of myself and all the local lives that have been changed by becoming a part of this ministry!

I will be the first to tell you that I had no idea what God had in store for me eight years ago when I bought my first pair of 'real running shoes'. Today, I am blessed to have a new way of life that is spent very literally on behalf of the poor and wonderful teammates that have become family, friends, my small group, and our church running together.

This would not have happened without your vision and heart to impact the needs of the global poor on behalf of Christ and the hope we bring by alleviating their suffering.

Season Highlights

  • We were the largest charity at both the Crystal Lake Half Marathon and the Chicago Marathon

  • Over 150 people signed up for one of the training teams early in the season

  • Leaders are rising up within this ministry

  • 56 people volunteered one or more times to support one of the training teams

  • We had our most successful fundraising season to date

  • Local team leaders attended a Team World Vision National Leaders Gathering in the Spring to develop their leadership skills and grow their knowledge of global poverty and how we are making a difference

  • This year we have four local team members participating in a vision trip to Kenya as ambassadors to see the work we are funding
